Help Us Welcome Our Newest Practitioner, Jenna Bradshaw!

We are very excited to welcome Jenna Bradshaw to the Flow Natural Health Care team. Jenna is a massage therapist, yoga teacher, and health coach with over a decade of experience in the health and wellness industry. She has a degree in Psychology and is licensed by the Oregon Board of Massage Therapy. She also holds advanced certifications in Hatha and Kundalini Yoga, Clinical Nutrition, and personal training.

As you can see, Jenna brings a lot to the table.

She will be offering two new services here at Flow Natural Health Care. These are:

Service #1: Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is a powerful therapeutic bodywork technique that is beneficial for nearly everyone. Addressing the lymphatic system can be crucial to our overall health – yet this is a system of our body that is rarely addressed or studied.

What is Lymphatic Drainage Therapy?

The lymphatic system, which can be considered the other half of the circulatory system, is a complex network of tissues, vessels, organs and nodes whose primary functions are to transport fluid, aid in immune function, create white blood cells, identify and destroy foreign material and cells, regenerate tissues, and detoxify the body. The lymphatic system transports over twice as much fluid per day than the circulatory system (while doing so without the aid of a “pump” like the heart.) As you can imagine, when this system doesn’t work correctly, neither does your body!

Unfortunately, many factors of daily living can contribute to a congested or poorly functioning lymphatic system. These factors include stress, shallow breathing, poor diet, tightness or restrictions in the body, and exposure to a plethora of modern toxins. Lymphatic drainage therapy can help to break up congestion in the lymphatic system and improve this system’s efficacy.

Lymphatic drainage therapy is a combination of Manual Lymph Drainage (a light-touch, rhythmic type of massage) combined with the technology of the Lymphstar Pro Fusion. This medical device uses light, sound, and noble gases (encased in glass tubes) to release restrictions, open up lymph nodes, and re-polarize the proteins in the body’s fluids allowing congested areas to flow again. It is estimated that an hour session incorporating the Lymphstar Pro Fusion is as effective as 5 hours of manual lymph drainage alone! Most clients find the light, rhythmic strokes incredibly calming and soothing, while feeling refreshed and light afterward.

What is Lymphatic Drainage Therapy Used For?

While beneficial for almost anyone, Lymphatic Drainage Therapy can be especially helpful for:

  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Swelling and edema (general or post-surgical)
  • Reducing healing time of wounds, surgical procedures
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
  • General relaxation and stress reduction
  • General detoxification
  • Improved immune function
  • Digestive and bowel issues
  • Allergies
  • Migraine and sinus headaches
  • Fibrocystic Breast Disease
  • Oncology Support

This treatment is appropriate for people of all ages, with the major contraindications being:

  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis
  • Pacemaker

Initial visits are 90 minutes, which allows for a full body treatment, if necessary, and time for intake and education. Follow up sessions can be 60 or 90 minutes depending on the treatment plan or reason for the visit.

What Jenna says about Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

“As I began work as a massage therapist, I was immediately drawn to the light touch technique of lymphatic drainage. I soon studied a Vodder method of lymph drainage therapy with Klose Training and Consulting, and continued my training at The Center for Lymphatic Health, with the wonderful Allen Mills. I love utilizing the technology of the Lympstar Pro Fusion to greatly enhance the already powerful work that is lymph drainage therapy. Additionally, I love to teach my clients (and anyone I meet!) how to harness the power of their breath to improve their lymph and immune functioning, and promote healing in the body.”

Service #2: Health Coaching

Health coaching is a team effort in which you and your coach collaborate to sustainably implement positive changes – both those that have been recommended by your naturopath and others that are meaningful to you – to help you thrive. Health coaching provides:

  • Support as you work on identifying the changes that are most important to you; along with realistic and personalize steps that will help you get there.
  • Ongoing accountability to help you succeed in the long term. An abundance of research has been done to show that those with accountability partners for their health goals are much more likely to be successful than those who try to achieve those goals on their own.
  • Education and expert guidance.  Whether on meal planning as you implement nutritional changes, reducing stress through meditation or the principles of yoga, getting more active, or improving your sleep –  your coach will be your go-to for personalized recipes, meditation strategies, workout ideas, and help in brainstorming any challenge.

Health coaching is not about just sticking to a  “diet”. It is about helping you find nourishment in everything you do – enjoyment in the food that you eat, meaningful movement, community engagement, and living life with more clarity, ease, and purpose.

Jenna has been a helping people achieve greater health in her work for over a decade. Her coaching program’s principles and her values are very much in alignment with those of naturopathic medicine. She believes in the healing power of food, movement, nature, relaxation, our bodies, and a happy heart.
