Osteoporosis

Naturopathic Osteoporosis Treatment

Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the growth of new bone can’t keep pace with the removal of old bone. The disease causes bones to be fragile and brittle; if someone with osteoporosis experiences even a slight fall, they are more likely to break a bone. The disease affects men and women of all ethnic origins, but women who are postmenopausal are at the highest risk of developing osteoporosis.

In the early stages of osteoporosis, you may not experience any symptoms; however, as the bone loss is amplified over time, you will begin to notice changes in your body. You may experience fairly severe back pain, diminishing height, a permanently stooped posture, or your bones may break or fracture when you would expect them not to. The likelihood that you will develop osteoporosis depends greatly on your youth. If you attained a lot of bone mass in your younger years, you are less likely to develop osteoporosis later in your life. One of the main causes of osteoporosis is an imbalance of certain hormones in the body. During menopause, a woman’s body produces much less estrogen. A decrease in sex hormones tends to translate into weaker bones.

There are many risk factors for osteoporosis, and at Flow Natural Health Care we can identify those risks and use Naturopathic methods to treat the underlying causes of your bone loss.
