A little bit about Corinne…

It’s always so exciting to start anew…and I can’t imagine a better place than Flow Natural Health Care to begin this new chapter. My husband, puppy and I recently moved to Portland after years of traveling to the Northwest from Colorado and wondering to ourselves, “Why don’t we live here, again?” The lush Technicolor green, the food scene, and the unbelievable outdoor access has kept us coming back and eventually nudged us to finally take the plunge and move to our favorite city.

My husband and I met near my hometown, where we both attended Ithaca College. I graduated in 2002 with a degree in dance therapy and, soon after, went to work in a residential facility in Massachusetts, first in a direct care role and later as the activities coordinator. It was there that I had the incredible pleasure of meeting many children and adults on the autism spectrum. I was intrigued by the unique ways in which they coped with the world around them. I was so inspired that in 2005, I applied for and was accepted into a training program at the Autism Treatment Center of America. For two years, I was immersed daily in learning a 1:1 play-based therapy to inspire children with autism spectrum disorders to increase their eye contact, language, and attention spans, all while having a LOT of fun! After leaving the center, I began working with families in their homes, and I have been working with children on the spectrum ever since.

In my Master’s program for Traditional Chinese Medicine at Southwest Acupuncture College, I explored the benefits of the medicine for children and adults alike. It was so exciting to learn how to treat the underlying causes of disharmony in the body. I was fortunate enough to also travel to Harbin, China to study with incredible Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors at a university hospital, and to truly see the incredible scope of what this ancient healing art can treat.

I am just thrilled to be joining this team of incredible practitioners. One of my greatest delights in life is helping families; whether it’s a mom who can’t pick up her child because of her chronic back pain, or a kiddo that is hesitant to try new foods because of his digestive challenges, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can address both of these situations (and more!) to get families back to the daily business of playing, eating, and skipping through life together.

Starting in mid-August, I will be providing individual treatments on Tuesday through Friday, as well as Saturday community-style treatments at a reduced rate.

On Thursday, September 17th at 5:30pm, I will be hosting a meet-and-greet at Flow Natural Health Care with some yummy appetizers made with Chinese herbs that you can purchase in your nearest grocery store! Please join us for a nibble and a chat about how acupuncture could help you!
